Having grown up in a military home, Dr. Ryan Wintrell Ridley is a Virginia native raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, although he has seen, lived and called multiple places home. Ridley moved to Washington, D.C. to attend Howard University. After graduating with honors, Ridley completed medical school, followed by internship and residency training in otolaryngology, at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas where he also met Tricia Ridley, his wife and fellow health care provider.
During residency training, Ridley developed a fascination with inner ear diseases and surgery, and thus, he completed a clinical fellowship in otology at the prestigious Silverstein Institute in Sarasota, Florida. Upon completion of fellowship training, Ridley returned to the Houston area and worked in private practice for eight years prior to joining Houston Methodist.
Underneath the white coat, Ridley is a devoted husband and father to three. Dr. Ridley and his family love adventures, which have included travels around the world to Spain, Trinidad, Thailand and more. When the family is not traveling, Ridley and his wife are chauffeurs for their kids to dance, baseball, and soccer practices and events.
Ridley's parents instilled the work ethic he uses today and "to always set the example," as his father used to tell him as a child. They also impressed upon him to do everything to the glory of God. Ridley strives to exude these mindsets in his daily life and in his work here at Houston Methodist.
