Dr. Rudolph is the Division Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Scripps Clinic, a position he has held since 1987. He has had a full-time Plastic Surgery practice in La Jolla and San Diego since 1975. Originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, Dr. Rudolph graduated Magna Cum Laude from Yale University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in recognition of his academic excellence. He obtained his Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) from Columbia University where he similarly was elected to the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. Following Internship at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Rudolph and his wife Nancy worked for two years at the Gallup Indian Hospital in New Mexico, providing much needed medical care to Native Americans. Dr. Rudolph then took his residencies in Plastic and General Surgery at the University Hospitals of Cleveland. Dr. Rudolph is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and by the American Board of Surgery. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, San Diego, and teaches residents and medical students principles of plastic surgery. Dr. Rudolph is the author of over 120 articles and has edited/authored three books on plastic surgery. Most of them relate to tissue healing, and many apply to cosmetic surgery. Dr. Rudolph has been active in many national and local societies, including being a Board member of the San Diego Opera. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.) and is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the prestigious American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, and many other organizations. His practice includes a wide variety of cosmetic surgery procedures, specializing in facial rejuvenation which includes face and brow lifts, laser, and eyelid surgery. Body and facial sculpturing procedures like liposculpture and rhinoplasty are important components of his practice. He also specializes in breast surgery, including breast enhancement and reduction, reconstruction after breast cancer treatment, and is highly skilled at scar revision. As an experienced clinical plastic surgeon in San Diego for many years, Dr. Rudolph has a reputation for sincere personal attention to his patients. His surgery is well-known for producing a natural look.
