Ronald Dorn, MD, FASTRO, FACR has broad experience and expertise in cancer care. Following his residency, Dr. Dorn spent five years on the staff at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, serving as Chief of the Radiation Oncology Service, Director of the Cancer Program, and Consultant to the Surgeon General. Dr. Dorn is a fellow of the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the American College of Radiology (ACR). He has also held positions in several national organizations devoted to research in breast, prostate, and pediatric cancers. Dr. Dorn's Philosophy of Care: We have incredible technology that allows us to control and cure a wide range of cancers. However, the words "cancer" and "radiation" remain frightening. Effective and compassionate care requires both expert application of the technology and the recognition and understanding of the strong emotions surrounding diagnosis and treatment. My clinic schedule is expressly organized to allow enough time to fully address all these issues. Dr. Dorn and his wife Terry are proud parents of two children, a son and a daughter, both of whom are neuroscientists. He has been an avid triathlete for more than 30 years and an active volunteer in several organizations including the Discovery Center of Idaho and the Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
