Brief Intro

Dr. Ronald Shiell loves a good challenge. While serving as chief of the dermatology division at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, he taught students pursuing a career in medicine. At the same time, he was appointed director of Mohs surgery center for the university. Dr. Shiell also plays an important, rigorous role in relation to Mohs micrographic surgery within the West Dermatology network. Since 2001, he has been the primary Mohs surgeon for the entire dermatology group. Dr. Shiell is one of the busiest Mohs surgeons in the country performing over 2,500 cases per year at multiple West Dermatology locations. Perhaps his favorite challenge, however, is one he shares with his wife, an endocrinologist, in raising their family. The time they enjoy most is spent together with their two sons. “It’s amazing the joy you can get out of watching your children have fun, evolve and grow.
