After graduating magna cum laude from Princeton University, Robert W. Baker, MD earned his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and was then a post-doctoral fellow ion gastroenterology at Beth Israel Hospital (Boston) and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Baker is a board certified internist and gastroenterologist.
Currently, Dr. Baker is on staff as a clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine and Senior Assistant Attending in Medicine at North Shore University Hospital. In addition to his clinical appointments, Dr. Baker maintains memberships in several professional societies, including:

Dr. Baker has over 25 years of experience as an internist and gastroenterologist. He is an expert in colonoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, having performed thousands of procedures with a superior safety record. He performs these procedures in the office with an anesthesiologist assisting to assure a safe and completely comfortable examination for the patient.
In the field of digestive diseases, Dr. Baker is particularly interested in irritable bowel syndrome, gastro-esophageal reflux (GERD), and colon cancer prevention. He is also very knowledgeable about mind-body medicine. He is the author of Successful Surgery: A Doctor’s Mind-Body Guide to Help You Through Surgery published by Pocket Books.
Dr. Baker is married and has 7 children. He lives in Manhasset with his wife Lee and whichever of the kids are still young enough to live at home. In his “other life,†Dr. Baker is an accomplished magician and ventriloquist. He performs regularly in comedy clubs on Long Island and in New York City.
