I enjoy meeting people-especially in my office. everyone always seems glad to see me. I know it's because they may have a problem that they hope I can fix or help, but it's always a friendly, warm, cordial meeting. it's just the best place to make new friends. Even after surgery they always seem so appreciative of my efforts to help them. We leave great friends-talking about children, grandchildren and pets. I love my job. All day I meet nice people. My special interest has always been breast cancer. These are special patients with the most caring and supportive families. They come back to visit annually. I always look forward to these visits. The surgery is very easy. I have been convinced for many years that most women can be treated with a small partial mastectomy, preserving most of the breast and go home the same day. More radical surgery only increases the complication rate and the remuneration to the surgeon. I also enjoy all the other aspects of general surgery: hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery, melanoma and other skin tumors. Everyone of these problems comes attached to a nice person I want to meet.
