Dr. Somers, a recognized expert in breast surgery with more than 40 years of experience, believes in treating women as partners in their care because it puts them in control of their own health. Dr. Somers was a pioneer of breast conservation and under his leadership and expertise he created the breast health program at Einstein over 20 years ago. Fellowship trained at Memorial Sloan Kettering and recognized as a "Top Doc" by Philadelphia magazine, Dr. Somers has devoted his career to treating women with breast cancer and has helped thousands of women. In 2012 he received the Light of Life Award from Susan G. Komen for the Cure Philadelphia.
