Robert Brewer, MD, received his bachelor of arts in biology from Bellarmine College in Louisville, Kent. He earned a doctoral degree in medicine from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ken., and completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the Oakland Naval Hospital in Oakland, Cali. Dr. Brewer has a second residency in plastic surgery from National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Brewer has over 25 years of plastic surgery and wound care expertise. He has served as the medical director of Bon Secours Hyperbaric and Wound Care Center at DePaul Medical Center for over 5 years. In addition, he served as a specialty adviser to the Navy Surgeon General, and also served as an assistant professor of plastic surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Brewer is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons, the Medical Society of Virginia, and the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society.
