I was born in Milton Iowa. I attended Van Buren High School followed by college at Northeast Missouri State University (Truman University). After completing college, I attended medical school at Kirksville college of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery.
I am married to Gloria and we have three children, Eric, an anesthesiologist; Amy, an X-ray technician; and Heidi, a physical therapy assistant. Gloria and I have seven grandchildren.
I served as a Major in the U.S. Air Force. I was the last doctor drafted from Iowa during the Vietnam War. In 1974, I left a pediatric practice in Oklahoma to return to Van Buren County Hospital. I have practiced medicine in Van Buren County for 33 years.
My wife and I came home to practice medicine and raise our family over 30 years ago. I feel we made the right decision because the entire staff at VBCH has become a part of our extended family. As a team, we strive to give our patients the best care possible, just as we would treat our own family. Although we are small in size, the hospital and clinics continue to be a huge asset to the community and surrounding area.
