Dr. McConnell chose physical medicine and rehabilitation because the focus is not just about how to live, but how to live well. This specialty is all about teamwork, and she loves working with patients and therapists to find new solutions to individual concerns. Dr. McConnell says that the best part about coming to work are learning and teaching. She regularly mentors medical students and residents. The human body, mind, and spirit are amazing and there is always something to learn and something to teach others that can help us improve and grow.Social support has always been the biggest influence in her life. She would not be where she is without the support of her family and friends. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, cooking, traveling and sleeping.My goal as a physician is to help people achieve their highest potential. Sometimes I can do this with modern medical treatments and keeping up with new research. Most of the time, however, I help by encouraging the positive actions that patients' are already doing for themselves. Humans are smart, resourceful, and capable creatures. My most essential role, therefore, is as a healthcare guide to improve each patient's independence on their path to wellness.
