In addition to her position at Summit Medical Group, Pauline A. Thomas, MD, FAAP, is Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at New Jersey Medical School in Newark. Dr. Thomas is a member of the New York State AIDS Institute Pediatric HIV Care Committee, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene World Trade Center Health Registry Scientific Advisory Committee, American Academy of Pediatrics Executive Committee, and American Academy of Pediatrics Prevention and Public Health Special Interest Group on Epidemiology. A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, she is a member of the Physicians Research Network and Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists.
Dr. Thomas's professional experience includes positions with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Epidemic Intelligence Service and AIDS Program Bureau of Preventable Disease. To her credit, she has held notable positions with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, including Director of the Immunization Program, Director of the AIDS Surveillance Program, Coordinator for the Pediatric HIV Surveillance Projects, and Assistant Commissioner of the Bureau of Surveillance.
Dr. Thomas is the author or coauthor of articles and abstracts primarily devoted to HIV/AIDS, which are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Journal of the American Medical Association, American Journal of Epidemiology, and Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal.
Most recently, she has been involved in a New Jersey Governor's Council on Autism research project to assess the scope of autism in New Jersey.
