My career in medicine began with a challenge. I was in high school with my eyes focused on becoming an aeronautical engineer, when my brother, who lived in the United States, challenged me. "You are smart but I don't think you can become a doctor." That was a defining moment in my life, and I determined then to become a physician.
My specialization in pathology and laboratory medicine began as a fluke. I was unexpectedly offered a residency position, and I took it. Now I think that has been one of the best things that happened to me. Being a pathologist, with regular hours and no weekend calls, leaves me enough time to spend with my family and play sports.
As a matter of philosophy, I firmly believe that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of healing. Thus, I am really proud of laying the foundation of the Fine Needle Aspiration Service at Vallejo. Please see the Fine needle aspiration cytology icon on my home page.
The advantage of working in Kaiser Permanente is that I don't have to worry about bills, payments, and insurance issues. Working with fellow physicians who have the same goal of providing excellent service to our patients becomes easy.
If I am not working you will find me either playing tennis, ping pong, or on the soccer fields coaching my daughter's soccer team.
