Dr. Nevin Shrimanker, MD is a Pain Management Specialist with specialties in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He approaches each patient with personalized care and a thorough review of their medical history and imaging to formulate a treatment plan unique to each person’s pain concerns and ailments. Dr. Shrimanker focuses on novel, non-invasive surgical procedures to help his patients reduce pain as an alternative to surgery or before considering major spine surgery. Dr. Shrimanker was the first physician in Triangle area to do the MILD procedure (a percutaneous minimally invasive lumbar decompression surgery) and has helped many patients reduce pain and weakness in their legs from spinal stenosis. He also was one of the first in the Triangle area to perform dorsal root ganglion nerve stimulation for foot and ankle pain as well as complex nerve pain in the lower extremities.He also has taken an interest in ultrasound technology to provide a new avenue for pain treatment possibilities.Education and BackgroundDr. Shrimanker completed his training as an anesthesiologist at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 2008. He then went on to complete his interventional pain management fellowship at Carolina Pain Institute in Winston Salem, NC - one of the top fellowship training programs in the nation. Dr. Shrimanker joined Carolina Pain Consultants in 2009 and is Medical Director of the Duke Raleigh Pain Clinic. He lectured to nurse anesthesia students as well as the nursing floors and surgical services at Duke Raleigh Hospital about pain treatment strategies and creating effective and safe pain care plans. Dr. Shrimanker has focused on trying to bring new procedures and treatments to this area.He has travelled to Leon, Nicaragua for a medical mission trip and worked to provide anesthesia care for orthopedic patients as well as administer regional pain blocks to reduce post-operative pain. Outside of his daily clinical care, he enjoys the outdoors and fishing.
