Dr. Blyznak earned his medical degree with honors from NYU School of Medicine in 1977. He completed residency training at SUNY-Stony Brook and NYU Medical Center before completing a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Chicago. He was an assistant professor of orthopaedics and the Chief of Sports medicine at SUNY-Stony Brook’s Department of Orthopaedics from 1988-1991. He has published numerous articles on such topics as articular cartilage and medial collateral ligament injuries, and has completed many hours of continuing medical education. Dr. Blyznak is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
While Dr. Blyznak welcomes all types of orthopaedic patients to his general orthopaedic practice, he specializes in sports injuries and arthroscopic surgery (including knee meniscus repair, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff problems, labrum tears, etc.). He also performs primary total knee replacements (including the Gender Specific Knee designed especially for women), carpal tunnel release, fracture care and various other procedures.
