Dr. Nelson Sturgis joined SFHC’s staff in 2006 and currently serves pediatric patients at both the Sumter and Pinewood facilities. Dr. Sturgis is a Board Certified Pediatrician, and received his undergraduate degree from Boston University and his doctorate of Medicine from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Prior to his employment with the Center, Dr. Sturgis worked many years as a staff physician at Sumter Pediatrics, was in private practice in Vermont, and served as a pediatrician in the United States Air Force for eight years. Dr. Sturgis and his wife reside in Sumter and have three children and two grandchildren.
