Dr. Gohel is a board certified general surgeon with a special interest in treating breast cancer and breast diseases. He graduated from M.P. Shah Medical College, India in 1977 and completed his general surgery residency in 1985 at Detroit Macomb Hospital Corporation. He is currently Vice Chief of Surgery and Chief of General Surgery at St. John Macomb Hospital. He is a member of numerous prestigious organizations such as the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons, Macomb County Medical Society and Michigan State Medical Society. Dr. Gohel's office offers complete breast care services with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery. His office based procedures include ultrasound guided Mammotome, needle core biopsy, breast cyst aspiration and insertion of Mammosite (for partial breast radiation). All these procedures are done under local anesthesia and always in the comfort of the doctor's office rather than in the hospital. Dr. Gohel also does stereotactic breast biopsies at St. John Macomb Breast Center. He is the only surgeon who performs stereotactic breast biopsies at St. John Macomb Breast Center. If cancer is diagnosed, Dr. Gohel will then guide the patient to appropriate treatment plans. Dr. Gohel has lived in Michigan since 1978. He is married and has four children. He enjoys hiking with his family and playing soccer with his son.
