Brief Intro

Welcome to My Home Page! About Me I grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, a small Midwestern college town. I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor as an undergraduate, majoring in psychology. I then attended graduate school at Stanford University where I received a Ph.D. in psychology. From there I returned to Ann Arbor to attend medical school and received my M.D. in 1977. After a residency at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, I have practiced emergency medicine continuously since 1979. I went into medicine because it is profession whose stated purpose is to help people. I have had the privilege of practicing at Kaiser Permanente since 1987. What I like about working for Kaiser Permanente is that I am free to pursue this noble purpose without having to concern myself with running a business. When I'm not working, I try and relax and pretend I'm not a physician. I enjoy cultural events, cooking and entertaining, and playing golf. I have two grown children.
