Michael D. Butler, MD, FACS, brings the latest techniques in cardiovascular thoracic surgery to the Hamot Heart Institute.
Prior to joining Hamot, Dr. Butler completed his fellowship in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the University Of Virginia Health Sciences Center.
During the last 10 years, Dr. Bulter has dedicated his career to research, earning the James E. Demeules Surgical Research First Place Prize for a major research project completed during his residency at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont. While at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont, he also was given the Surgical Residency Teaching Award.
In addition to publishing numerous research papers, abstracts and presentations, Dr. Butler spent two years as a research assistant in cardiothoracic surgery at the West Roxbury Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Roxbury, Massachusetts.
