Michael C. Foster, M.D., F.A.C.C., has been with the South Carolina Heart Center since 1989. Dr. Foster is past president of the American Heart Association's South Carolina affiliate, and has served on its board of directors. He also has served as the chief of the Department of Cardiology and director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at Providence Hospital, Columbia, SC, as well as president of the South Carolina Heart Center. He is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is Principal Investigator in five clinical trials: ADVANCE Trial Phase II CHF Parke-Davis, VALIANT Phase II Acute MI with CHF Novartis, VITAL Phase II, CHF Otuska-America and Protocol #GPO0693 Phase III Hyperlipidemia Schering-Plough Research Institute. Enlighten 1 Trial - Guidance Interventional. He is also the Principal Investigator for coronary devices. After earning his MD at Indiana University School of Medicine, IN, Dr. Foster served an internship at Boston University Affiliated Hospital, Brockton, MA. He completed residencies at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, IN and University Hospital, Boston University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in cardiology at Tufts University School of Medicine and Boston Veterans Administration Medical Center, Boston, MA.
