Matthew Cousins, M.D., Ph.D., is a Radiation Oncologist with Advanced Radiation Oncology at Self Regional Healthcare. Dr. Cousins grew up in Newberry County before completing bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Clemson University in Clemson, SC. He later earned a Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD and a medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Cousins is a cancer survivor who was treated with radiation before he completed residency in the highly ranked program in the Department of Radiation Oncology at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. During residency, he received supplementary training in integrative oncology and is happy to discuss complementary therapies for symptom management. He believes strongly in the value of innovative, individualized, evidence-based cancer care. He has been recognized for his research by the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). He is a member of these organizations, as well as, the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American College of Radiology (ACR), and the American Medical Association (AMA). He is board certified by the American Board of Radiology.
