Brief Intro

David M. Bercaw, M.D., FAAFP, is the vice chair of Christiana Care's Department of Family & Community Medicine. Dr. Bercaw received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed his family medicine residency at Christiana Care Health System in 1984. Following his residency training, he served a three-year commitment in the National Health Service Corps in rural Mississippi. In 1987 he returned to Delaware, where he spent nine years in private practice. Dr. Bercaw joined the Family Practice Residency Program at Christiana Care as associate director in 1996. His medical interests include patient-safety and quality-of-care issues. He serves as chair of the bylaws committee for Christiana Care. He is on the board of directors for the Delaware Institute of Medical Education and Research. He has served as president of the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians and is currently the president-elect of the Medical Society of Delaware. His outside interests include golf, disc golf and spending time kayaking and snowshoeing at his family’s cabin in the Adirondacks.
