Dr. Keaton completed his Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology in 1989 at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He held the position of Chief of the Hematology/Oncology Services at Eisenhower until he left in 1993. He was in private practice in Valdosta from 1993 until 2002 when he joined the Augusta Oncology team. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology.
He has a strong desire to be involved with cutting edge research. He feels strongly that patients should have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials without having to leave the community. He has been the Principal Investigator with the Southwest Oncology Group with each practice he has been involved with. He believes in treating the patient with dignity and allowing the patient to be him or herself during the entire cancer process from diagnosis-treatment-to follow up.
During his time away from work he enjoys tennis, reading, swimming and spending time with his family.
