Brief Intro

I grew up in Venezuela and came to the United States for college. I had talked about becoming a doctor since elementary school and was very lucky to have the opportunity to pursue that dream here in the United States. In college I became an American citizen and continued my training at world class institutions. I am double Board Certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. I arrived in Charleston in 1990 having been recruited by the Medical University of South Carolina as the first facial plastic surgeon at the institution. Over the next 10 years I developed an incredibly busy practice providing the complete gamut in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. I left MUSC and opened the Facial Surgery Center in 1999. Over the last 16 years I have been fortunate to have developed a practice which is seen as the premier cosmetic and reconstructive facial surgery practice in the state. The need to give back to our community, to try to fix the world was passed on to me by my late father. His commitment to helping others and to doing the right thing by the less fortunate inspires me daily. Clearly my passion for helping others, children with vascular birthmarks, was assuaged through the creation of The Hemangioma Treatment Foundation for children with facial differences whose parents cannot afford the surgery or do not have access to it.. I also created the Hemangioma and Vascular Malformations Center. In the past two years I have expanded my practice to include The Hair Loss Treatment Center specializing in transplantation and hair regrowth methods for men and women using the NeoGraft Automated Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Implantation Hair Transplant System which is a new breakthrough and the only Class One FDA Listed automated medical device for hair restoration. I also utilize Platelet Rich Plasma technology to enhance growth and strengthen hair. Facial Plastic surgeons have found that some of the surgeries they perform and the injection of Botox often impacted their patients who suffered from chronic migraines. I began performing migraine surgeries two years ago through my practice, Surgery4Migraines, and have had remarkable results diminishing the severity of or eliminating migraines with surgery, SphenoBlock (local anesthetic in nose) and Botox injections have proven to have lasting effects (up to a few months). I am delighted to have the opportunity to expand my practice and restore quality of life and renewed confidence and youthfulness to so many people.
