Dr. Demers serves as leader of surgical oncology for the Gastrointestinal Cancer Department and is a member of the Melanoma/Sarcoma and Breast Cancer Departments at MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando. Dr. Demers completed a fellowship in surgical oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He fulfilled a residency in general surgery at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, and earned his medical degree from Boston University. He is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Demers made numerous presentations at annual meetings and symposiums. He has been published in journals including the Journal of Surgical Oncology and the Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. In 1999, he received the surgical resident teaching award from Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Demers is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the Massachusetts Medical Society. He sits on the Florida Surgical Society's board of directors.
