Women have unique mental health needs. Too often these needs are overlooked or minimized in traditional therapy settings. Dr. Lisa Goldfine provides a safe, dedicated space for women as they explore a wide range of issues including, but not limited to:Relationship challengesFeelings of anxiety or depressionTrauma Self-esteem or body image issuesTrouble achieving a work-life balanceDr. Goldfine’s passion for promoting women’s mental health was born during her undergraduate years at Barnard College of Columbia University where she attended “Take Back the Night” marches and volunteered for Barnard’s crisis hotline. Through these experiences she saw firsthand the powerful transformation that could occur when previously silenced women felt safe enough to share their stories and have their private pain borne witness to, some for the very first time. These were early formative experiences that convinced her to find ways to help women feel supported, listened to without judgment, and taken seriously. Since then, Dr. Goldfine has devoted her career to providing treatment tailored to women’s unique mental health needs. Dr. Goldfine practices primarily from a psychodynamic perspective but also has extensive training in both cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) therapies and will integrate these approaches when appropriate. She views the relationship between therapist and client as paramount and believes that trust, caring, and collaboration are necessary therapeutic ingredients that need to be present in order to lay the groundwork for lasting change. In addition to treating women in her private practice, Dr. Lisa Goldfine has had the privilege of serving as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Iona College in New Rochelle.Dr. Lisa Goldfine’s practice is LGBTQ+ friendly and she welcomes LGBTQ+ identified individuals as well as individuals who are questioning their sexuality.
