I was born in Argentina and moved to the United States at age 5. I am very fortunate because my parents insisted on speaking only Spanish in the home. This has allowed me to be fluent in both Spanish and English. As a child, I translated what the doctor said to my mother. I am thrilled that my own patients do not have to deal with this issue. My family consists of my husband, two healthy daughters, and my son who has cystic fibrosis. His health care needs are great, and he follows a strict medical regime. My experience as a parent of a chronically ill child has made me especially sensitive to the needs and issues of families dealing with a sick child.
