Laura Hirschfeld, MD, FACS, is a Board-Certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained corneal and refractive surgeon. As a full-time member of Eye Physicians of Sussex County, Dr. Hirschfeld focuses her practice on the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, cataracts, corneal diseases and laser vision correction.Dr. Hirschfeld graduated with honors in biology from Harvard University. She later received her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine and completed an internship in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Dr. Hirschfeld received her ophthalmology training at the renowned Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital on Manhattans Upper East Side, where she was one of the first ophthalmologists-in-training to perform laser vision correction. She was subsequently appointed to a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. She spent her fellowship exclusively performing corneal transplants and refractive surgical procedures for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.Dr. Hirschfeld is a member of many medical societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
