Larry A. Scher, MD, is an Attending Vascular Surgeon at Montefiore and Professor of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was previously Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery at North Shore University Hospital. Dr. Scher has extensive clinical experience and expertise in hemodialysis access, and possesses strong clinical and academic interests in this area.After graduating from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Scher completed his residency in general surgery at the Medical College of Virginia and his fellowship in vascular surgery at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. He is board certified in vascular surgery. Dr. Scher has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in all areas of vascular surgery. He has spoken at regional, national and international symposia, with a most recent focus on hemodialysis access and dialysis access steal syndrome. Dr. Scher is a Founding Member of the Vascular Access Society of the Americas, Past President of the New York Society for Vascular Surgery and Director of the Hemodialysis Access Session at the annual VEITHsymposium.
