Dr. Kole has a special interest in weight loss surgery, bariatric surgery, laparoscopic adjustable banding, laparoscopic gastric bypass, advanced laparoscopic surgery, general and emergency surgery and is fellowship-trained in trauma and critical care. In addition, Dr. Kole is Program Director of St. John Detroit Riverview Hospital's General Surgery residency program.
He is board certified in general surgery and has a special interest in weight loss surgery. Among the types of bariatric surgery he performs are laparoscopic band placement (Lap-Band), laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, revision and conversion. He has performed more than 700 bariatric procedures, both open and laparoscopic. He is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and has been an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University. He has authored more than 20 scientific articles and book chapters, and is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (FACOS) and a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons.
