After losing my mother to cancer at age seven, I avoided anything medical throughout my childhood. But as fate would have it, I not only found myself pursing a career in medicine, but chose surgical oncology as my specialty. Now I feel that everything has come full circle. I am helping people face and deal with cancer and, hopefully, cure them of the disease that haunted me as a child.
