United Hospital Center is pleased to welcome orthopaedic specialist Joseph J. Fazalare, M.D., to the medical staff. Dr. Fazalare is a native of Weirton, West Virginia and earned his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, W. Va. and completed his residency at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa. He then completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He specializes and provides expertise in pediatric and adult athletic related injuries. He has ongoing research experience in a biomechanics study comparing arthroscopically tied knots and meniscal repair which was a current concepts review article. Dr. Fazalare is currently using Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) to accelerate healing and potentially delay the need for joint surgery.
