Dr O'Malley has practiced orthopaedic surgery since 1993 and joined Wilmington Orthopaedic Group in 1999. He graduated from Dartmouth College (Phi Beta Kappa) and received his medical degree from Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, NY. Dr. O'Malley completed his Orthopaedic residency from State University of New York at Stony Brook, NY and a Sports Medicine fellowship at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. During his fellowship, Dr. O'Malley worked with the Philadelphia Eagles professional football team, the Philadelphia Flyers professional hockey team and the Virginia Slims Tennis Tournament. In Wilmington, Dr. O'Malley has worked as team physician for the Seattle Mariners AA baseball team (Port City Roosters), the Sharks collegiate baseball team, the Carolina Stars football team, Topsail High School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.Dr. O'Malley's clinical interests include sports medicine, arthroscopy, and joint replacement surgery. He resides in Wilmington with his wife and four children.
