An academic and athletic All-American out of La Jolla High School in San Diego, California, John received a full football scholarship to the University of Southern California.
He was named 1st team All-Pac 10 Conference and 2nd team All-American at USC, was named a starter in the Senior Bowl All-Star game and became the Green Bay Packers first round draft choice (27th pick overall) in the 1996 NFL draft.
John was named NFL All-Rookie 1st Team and the Green Bay Packers Rookie of the Year after helping the Packers to a 13-3 season which culminated in a victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI.
In his second season in the NFL John started 5 games before being sidelined by injury and lost to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII.
In only his third season as a professional, he suffered a devastating knee injury and was placed on injured reserve. He was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles at the start of his fourth NFL season where he only lasted a couple of weeks before the knee injury sidelined him for good.
After undergoing six knee surgeries in an attempt to return to the NFL, a new passion was awakened within John to help prevent what happened to him from happening to others. A non-science major as an undergrad, he went back to USC to take the necessary science prerequisites to take the MCAT and apply to medical school.
John was accepted to the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine where he went on to become a Dean's list scholar and a member of the medical school admissions committee.
John went to Baylor College of Medicine where he completed a residency and board certification in diagnostic radiology. He went on to complete a multi-disciplinary interventional pain fellowship at UC Irvine with a desire to use minimally invasive image guided procedures to help minimize pain and restore function so that people can live their lives to the fullest.
