Brief Intro

Dr. Parent, President and CEO of The Eye Center of Fort Wayne, is one of the most respected and well-known ophthalmologist in the nation. He has been selected by his peers as one of the Best Doctors in America(r) and listed as one of Americas Top Ophthalmologists. Dr. Parent received his undergraduate education from Hanover College and his medical training from the Indiana University Medical School. Dr. Parent was an Emergency Room Physician at St. Josephs Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He then attended the University of Louisville, where he participated in retinal research, completed his residency in ophthalmology, and was Chief Resident and Assistant Professor. Dr. Parent has lectured nationally and internationally and has authored numerous medical journal articles on advanced cataract and refractive surgical techniques. He has also been involved in several FDA and AMO approval studies for various cataract surgery devices. Dr. Parent is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, an initial member of the Intraocular Lens Implant Society, as well as the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgical Society and Society for Excellence in Eyecare. He is a member of the Fort Wayne Medical Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Parent has received the American Medal Associations Physician Recognition Award. He has participated in early scientific exchanges between China and the United States and has taught and performed humanitarian work in Guatemala and Honduras. For his frequent participation in medical humanitarian missions abroad, he was presented a Tribute from the Heart award from the Military Order of the Purple Heart of the United States of America. As a member of the faculty of Indiana University affiliated Fort Wayne Medical Education Program, he takes part in the training of Family Practice Residents. He also participates in the University of Saint Francis Surgical Technology Program. Dr. Parent assists in the training and is a clinical instructor for the students.
