J. Michael Brooks, M.D. attended college at the University of Notre Dame and is a graduate of the Wayne University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He completed an internship and Family Practice Residency at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Charleston, SC. Dr. Brooks served in the United States Navy as a Family Physician and was last stationed at the Cherry Point Naval Air Station in Havelock, NC. Dr. Brooks joined Calvert Family Practice Associates in 1990. Dr. Brooks holds Active Staff Privileges at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick and has served as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine, as well as on the Board of Directors. In March, 2004, Dr. Michael Brooks was recognized and honored by Calvert Memorial Hospital for his leadership and service to the community. Because of you, the people of Calvert County can expect the highest quality care when they come through our doors, said former CMH Chief of Staff Dr. Issam Damalouji at the annual medical staff awards ceremony. Dr. Brooks, as a member of the CMH medical staff since 1990 , has served in various leadership roles including the hospitals Board of Directors from 1996 to 2003 and the Medical Executive Committee. Recently, he designed a leadership development program for physicians at CMH. His advocacy generated interest in other physicians, said Damalouji. This program will help shape the future of the medical staff at CMH and ensure high quality care for many years to come. March, 2005, Dr. Brooks was again recognized by Calvert Memorial for his leadership and service for his participation in the athletic programs of Calvert County. Dr. Brooks was noted for volunteer work with the county schools and for his leadership as President of the Huntingtown High School Athletic Boosters. In 2007 Dr. Brooks was recognized by Calvert County Schools for his work at HHS as "Volunteer of the Year." Dr. Brooks is Board Certified and has been recertified by the American Board of Family Medicine in 1994, 2000 and 2006. Dr. Brooks and his family live in Saint Leonard. He enjoys hiking, biking, athletics and family time. He is a fan of the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Dr. Brooks is a member of St. John Vianney church in Prince Frederick.
