Dr. McGraw had previously served for 28 years in the United States Air Force Reserve as a Staff Orthopedic Surgeon and Flight Surgeon, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and receiving an Honorable Discharge in 2002. Through extended family members, Dr. McGraw was introduced to and fell in love the with East Tennessee area.
