Jennifer M. Lee, D.O., MPH is board certified in family medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine, osteopathy and acupuncture in the state of Virginia. Jennifer is a native Washingtonian, born and bred in Bethesda, Maryland. She attended Walt Whitman High School, then George Washington University where she majored in Chinese Language and Literature, minored in Biology and moved on to obtain a Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health, also at GWU.
After a year interning in public health programming at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in New Jersey, she decided she didn't want to spend her life sitting in meetings and submitting grant proposals and decided to attend Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. Kirksville is considered by many to be the "Mecca" of osteopathy. She had been treated all her life by osteopathic physicians (including her uncle) and decided to pursue a D.O. (doctor of osteopathy) degree when she decided to go into medicine. At the founding school of osteopathy, she learned to do osteopathic manipulation for a variety of complaints while learning the basic biomedical science and clinic courses required for the practice of medicine.
After graduating from medical school, she completed her residency through the Medical College of Virginia, at Fairfax Family Practice Residency in Fairfax, VA. During that time, she also took the Helms Institute course in Medical Acupuncture through Stanford University.
After graduating from residency in 2007, she worked in urgent care in the northern VA area and did locum tenens assignments, filling in for doctors in Fredericksburg, VA and Yuma, AZ. Before joining Steinmetz Medical Associates in 2008, she completed a six-month assignment in rural New Zealand. During her time in New Zealand, she was one of the 5 physicians who worked as the hospital, ER and clinic doctor and occasional paramedic - frequently without the labs, equipment or specialists common in the DC Metropolitan area. She is happy to offer osteopathic manipulation and acupuncture, especially for migraines and headaches.
