Raised in New Jersey, Dr. Pearson graduated from Gettysburg College, in Pennsylvania, and received his Osteopathic medical degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Missouri, in 1983. He returned to the NYC metropolitan region to complete a rotating internship and residency program. Dr. Pearson earned his board certification in 1986 from the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice and practiced in northern New Jersey until moving to San Diego in 1988.
In 1991, Dr. Pearson was honored to receive the Patient Care Award for Excellence in Patient Education, sponsored by the American Academy of Family Practice and the Patient Care magazine coverSociety of Teachers of Family Medicine. He joined the Board of Editors of Patient Care magazine in 1993, and it's sister publication, Medical Economics a little later, regularly contributing articles to these journals devoted to primary care physicians. Dr. Pearson also holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at several Osteopathic medical colleges including the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (Pomona, CA), Midwestern University, Michican State University, and Tuoro. He also trains medical students from the University of California at San Diego Medical School, as well as physician assistant and nurse practitioner students from Tuoro, Stanford and other schools. He is a popular and highly rated mentor for medical students, interns, residents, physician assistants and nurse practitioners from these and other national medical institutions.
With the exception of obstetrics, Dr. Pearson has practiced the full range of family practice including minor office surgery and surgical assisting at local hospitals and surgery centers.
