Scanland, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, graduated from the University of Tennessee, Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Chemistry. She received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Scanland completed a six-year residency in General Surgery and a two-year residency in Plastic Surgery at the UT College of Medicine at Erlanger Hospital. She then completed a rotational fellowship in Atlanta, Nashville and Birmingham in cosmetic breast surgery and breast reconstruction. Dr. Scanland began private practice in 1991 and founded The Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, P.C. in 1993. She has surgical privileges at all local hospitals and outpatient facilities. Dr. Scanland is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc., American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Tennessee Medical Association and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society.
