As a general surgeon, Dr. Wagner specializes in the surgical treatment of a wide range of diseases and conditions which involve the breast, stomach, esophagus, pancreas, gallbladder, lower intestines, hernia and abdomen. Dr. Wagner also has extensive experience in vascular surgery including repair of aneurysms to prevent rupture, carotid surgery to prevent strokes, peripheral vascular surgery to treat ischemic leg pain and sores, varicose vein surgery, and dialysis access creation/placement.
Dr. Wagner earned his medical degree from Mayo Medical School, Rochester, Minn. He completed his residency in surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis. Prior to joining MeritCare, Dr. Wagner practiced at Dakota Clinic/Innovis Hospital, Fargo, N.D. Dr. Wagner is board-certified in surgery and surgical critical care. This means that he has fulfilled the necessary criteria established by the regulating board and passed examinations that accredit him in these fields.
