James S. Starman, M.D. is a Board Eligible, Sports Medicine Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in shoulder and knee arthroscopy and reconstruction. Dr. Starman began his medical training at the esteemed University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine during which time he spent a year working directly with world-renowned ACL surgeon Dr. Freddie Fu. Upon graduation, he completed a multifaceted orthopaedic surgery residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina and a comprehensive Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Virginia. During his fellowship, Dr. Starman had the privilege of assisting in the care of a variety of collegiate teams including the 2013-14 ACC Men’s Basketball Champion UVA Cavaliers, nationally-ranked UVA Men’s Lacrosse team, and James Madison Football team.

Dr. Starman is a reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and is a member of a variety of national professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. Starman has authored dozens of publications in peer-reviewed journals covering various sports medicine and fracture care topics and has been a contributing author to seven different textbooks. His articles have been featured in the prominent Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, American Journal of Sports Medicine, and the Journal of Arthroscopy, among others. He was also recognized nationally by the American Medical Association as a recipient of the National Leadership Foundation Award for his medical advocacy work.
In his free time, Dr. Starman enjoys playing golf, watching college football, cycling, and spending time with his wife and daughter. Both he and his wife were born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and are truly happy to be a part of the friendly Palm Beach County community.
