Bladder Reconstruction; Genital and Urethral Surgery; Incontinence; Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery; Urethral Stricture Disease; Urology Dr. Jack W. McAninch is an international leader in genitourinary trauma and reconstructive surgery. He has developed new surgical techniques in urethral and genital reconstruction and has been instrumental in improving the care of patients who sustain urogenital trauma and in preserving kidney, bladder, penile, testicle and urethral function. He is a member of numerous medical societies including the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Society of International Urology. He served as president of the American Urological Association and American Board of Urology, and as Regent of American College of Surgeons. He earned a medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he was an honor graduate and recipient of the Gold Headed Cane Award as outstanding graduating senior. He completed general surgery and urology training at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco where he was Outstanding Resident Trainee. He joined the University of California, San Francisco and UCSF Medical Center in 1977. He is chief of Urology at San Francisco General Hospital and vice chair of the UCSF Department of Urology. He is certified by the American Board of Urology.
