Dr. Ira Epstein was born in Camden, New Jersey. He earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree in 1976 from the College of Health Sciences: Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa.
He completed his internship, internal medicine residency and fellowship in nephrology at Metropolitan Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and in 1983 began private nephrology practice in Wilmington, Delaware.
In 1998, he accepted the chairmanship in nephrology at the University of North Texas Health Science Center School of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas. He left that position in 2002 to return to private practice in Fort Worth.
Dr. Epstein joined North Texas Kidney Disease Associates in 2007 and is a physician partner in the group. He is married with five children.
