After receiving his medical degree and completing his residency in Indianapolis, IN, Dr. Davis went on to train in psychiatry. When a physician is trained in psychiatry, they must have received their medical degree and complete their training in general and adult psychiatry first. After completion of his board certification as an Adult Psychiatrist, Dr. Davis went on to specialize in children and adolescent psychiatry, completing his board certification as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist also. Dr. Davis then became an assistant professor at the Indiana University Medical Center, prior to his position as the Clinical Director of the Brown County Mental Health Center.
In 1992, Dr. Davis went into private practice, which later evolved into a partnership as Riverside Psychiatric Group, S.C.
Dr. Davis treats children, adolescents, adults, and families with all types of diagnosis. Some of the more common diagnosis include attention deficit disorder in children, adolescents, and adults, depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, and anxiety problems. It is not uncommon to treat the parents of the children, as some of these problems run in families, such as attention deficit disorders, depression, and anxiety. Dr. Davis' practice is more consistent with diagnosing and medication management than therapy. He finds that there is a good variety of therapists available in the community, as well as at Riverside Psychiatric Group to collaborate with on the care of patients.
Twice a week for the last 15 years, Dr. Davis has also been seeing patients at Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin where he is the Supervising Psychiatrist. He is also involved with the Family Service Residential Treatment Program and their Day Treatment Program, where they treat dually diagnosed patients with substance abuse and mental health issues. He's been married for 37 years to Sue, who was originally from the Fox Valley. Together they raised two grown children.
