Dr. Hank Martin is from Columbia, SC, and attended the University of South Carolina, from 1965 through 1969. He was awarded an athletic scholarship for basketball and played under Frank Maguire in the ACC. He was Academic All-Conference Honorable mention.
He attended the Medical University of South Carolina and graduated in 1973. He then completed a residency in family practice at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1976.
He started Lexington Family Practice in 1976. He was certified by the American Board of family medicine from 1976 through 2017. He was certified as a Hypertension Specialist by the American Society of Hypertension in 2001 and was re-certified in 2011. He has been recognized by the CDC as a Million Hearts Hypertension Champion, Top 30, in 2014 and was the DHEC South Carolina Hypertensive Champion in 2016.
Dr. Martin is married to the former Joan “Katie” Bellinger. He has three children and three grandchildren. He played for the South Carolina Grays Senior basketball team and won a Gold Medal in Cleveland in 2013 for 65 and older three-on-three basketball in the National Senior games. He also participated in the 2015 Senior games in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was a player-coach for the South Carolina Grays Basketball team winning the South Carolina Championship in 2018. He continues to enjoy shooting basketball and regular workouts.
He became interested in Lifestyle and Preventative Medicine completing a 52-hour course in Age Management Medicine in 2017. He was also certified by WORLDLINK Medical, the Academy of Preventive and Innovative Medicine for Advanced Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. He was re-certified in 2018 and 2019. He has continued to follow his passion by opening Cardinal Wellness and Aesthetics CWA, a Lifestyle and Preventative Medicine Practice in March of 2019.
