Brief Intro

Dr. Gerald Bertiger grew up in Hillside, N.J. His professional career has been dedicated to the clinical practice in Gastroenterology. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and attended Hahnemann Medical College. His internship and residency in Internal Medicine were performed at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital, and he completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bertiger remained on staff at the University of Pennsylvania prior to becoming an attending physician at Chestnut Hill Hospital in 1986. He has served as the Chief of Gastroenterology and Head of the Endoscopy Unit at CHH since 1995. He is on the staff of Chestnut Hill Hospital and Landsdale Hospital Abington Health, and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Bertiger has been in private practice at Hillmont G.I. since its inception in 1995. He treats all gastrointestinal diseases, and his special interests are in the evaluation and treatment of esophageal diseases and motility disorders. He resides in Spring House with his wife, and enjoys cycling, cooking and woodworking.
