Dr. Galina Uklonsky, a hospitalist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Eastern Regional Medical Center, describes what she likes best about CTCA: "It gives me the opportunity to enjoy what I like to do the mosttreat people."
Dr. Uklonsky attended Donetsk National Medical University in the Ukraine. After earning a medical degree, Dr. Uklonsky completed a year-long internship at Donetsk City Hospital. She subsequently served as a public health physician in the city of Tlumach. Dr. Uklonsky then moved to the United States and completed a residency in internal medicine at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Uklonsky is board certified in internal medicine. After fulfilling a residency, Dr. Uklonsky joined Lehigh Primary Care Group in Philadelphia as an internal medicine physician. Her duties included providing primary care to patients and supervising teaching rounds with medical residents at Temple University Hospital, Episcopal Campus. She was also involved in the medical care of ventilator-dependent patients at a long-term acute care hospital. For the next five years, Dr. Uklonsky served as a staff physician at various hospitals in the Philadelphia area. In October 2008, Dr. Uklonsky joined CTCA. When asked why she joined, Dr. Uklonsky explains, "I went to the interview at CTCA and realized that I had never experienced anything like what they offeredfrom the atmosphere to the care they provide. The patients come first, everything else is secondary. I also liked the integrative team approach to treatment planning and the relationships between the staff and administration. My decision to join CTCA was made before I left the building."
Dr. Uklonsky is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. She is fluent in English, Russian and Ukrainian. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, traveling and spending time at the ocean. Her family, which includes her husband and two sons, enjoy watching the Eagles and 76ers.
