Brief Intro

Farr R. Nezhat, MD, FACOG, FACS, is a board-certified subspecialist in the treatment of womenÂ’s cancers who also provides surgical treatment for complex benign conditions. He is nationally and internationally known for his development of minimally-invasive surgical treatments, which have allowed increasingly complex procedures to be done without a major incision. These include radical pelvic surgeries for ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancers; treatments for endometriosis and pelvic masses; and hysterectomy. He joins us from Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he was Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science, and Director of Gynecologic Minimally-Invasive Surgery. Dr. Nezhat has published 135 scientific articles, 53 book chapters, and three textbooks detailing operative techniques. He is a member of many professional societies and a reviewer for several journals. He sits on the editorial board the Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and is past president of that society. Among awards recognizing his teaching, research, and clinical contributions, Dr. Nezhat has received the Blue Ribbon for laparoscopic treatment for recurrent endometrial cancer at the 2006 Annual Meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the First Prize for the teaching video, "Laparoscopic Staging in a Patient with Fallopian Tube Carcinoma," at the 2002 ACOG meeting. Dr. Nezhat has been a visiting professor at academic events and an invited lecturer at professional conferences around the globe, presenting and teaching minimally-invasive surgical techniques.
