Brief Intro

Dr. Eugene Bortnick is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He has been in private practice since 1966 after having served in the Army as the Head of the Department of Otolaryngology at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He is trained in both Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery as well as Facial Plastic Surgery. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas Medical School where he took his residency in Ear, Nose and Throat and had separate training in Facial Plastic Surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York and at UCLA in Los Angeles. He has been a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery since its inception in 1964. For the past twenty years Dr. Bortnick has restricted his practice to facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has published a number of articles in the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery and in the Journal of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Aside from his medical practice, Dr. Bortnick is an accomplished artist. His art is mainly watercolor and is mostly figurative and in portraiture. His art has appeared in many publications, including the International Journal of Aesthetic Surgery, Missouri Medical Association Journal, and the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery. He has had a number of one-man shows, and is a member of the National Watercolor Society, the Kansas Watercolor Society and the Louisiana Watercolor Society. He is also an international member of the Birmingham U.K. Watercolor Society. Some of his work has been displayed in the Forbes Gallery in New York. He has stated that his ability to paint the figure and the face has greatly helped his evaluation of the aesthetic of plastic surgery.
