Brief Intro

Dr. Eric Giesler believes in leading edge, patient-focused medicine. He practices general urology with a focus on urologic oncology. He sees both male and female patients. Dr. Giesler is passionate about men’s health and prostate cancer. He has mastered multiple diagnostic and treatment modalities for prostate cancer because he understands each patient is unique and requires a personalized treatment plan: He started performing state-of-the-art MRI – Ultrasound fusion prostate biopsies in 2015. He has been performing robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomies for over 10 years. He performs minimally invasive treatment options including High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) and cryoablation of the prostate. Along with his colleagues Dr. David Phillips, Dr. Naresh Desireddi and Dr. Richard Garza, Dr. Giesler serves as part of the Urology Austin Advancing Prostate Cancer Care Team. This team manages patients with prostate cancer recurrence after initial local therapy such as robotic prostatectomy or radiation. Care approaches include newer medical oncolytics (Xtandi, Zytiga, Erleada, Nubeqa and Yonsa) and immunotherapies (Provenge). Eric Giesler has been named a ‘Super Doctor’ by Texas Monthly Magazine in 2019. He was also recognized as a ‘Texas Rising Star’ by Texas Monthly in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Dr. Giesler loves spending time with his wife and two boys. He is an avid runner – having run several marathons. He has recently started to play tennis and enjoy Lady Bird Lake on a stand-up paddle board. He is currently seeing patients at our Westlake and Jollyville locations.
